My Journey

Hi, I’m Natalie (she/her), an autistic, person-centred therapist who believes therapy should feel like an exhale, not a performance.

My path into counselling hasn’t been traditional - but it has been deeply felt. I’ve worked in prison settings, studied person-centred counselling at the University of Warwick, graduating with first class honours, completed additional training in trauma-informed practice and understanding autism, and most importantly, I’ve lived through the kinds of experiences that fuel empathy in a real, grounded way.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I practice therapy in line with the BACP Ethical Framework. I am also passionate about ensuring best ethical practice in other, less visible areas, such as within custodial settings. In 2025 I presented my research at the University of Durham, Counselling in Prisons Network International Conference - which I am hopeful will lead to mindful ethical practices to be further developed in this area.

Launching my private practice in September 2025 is more than a career step - it’s an act of advocacy. It’s about creating a space where people can show up exactly as they are, where neurodivergent identities are celebrated, and where safety doesn’t mean silence - it means choice, consent, and comfort.

As someone who navigates the world a little differently, I’ve learned to embrace clarity, humour, and accessibility in everything I do. I translate complex ideas into relatable language, design sensory-considerate environments, and value authenticity over polish every time.

Therapy with me isn’t about getting “fixed.” It’s about being witnessed. It’s about untangling stories, sharing laughter alongside grief, and gently reintroducing yourself to… yourself.

Whether you’re here as a student, an explorer, a seasoned therapy-goer, or someone simply curious about what healing might look like - you’re welcome here.
What Is Person-Centred Therapy?

Person-centred therapy is a gentle, non-judgmental approach to counselling that puts you at the heart of the healing process.

Rather than telling you what to do or trying to “fix” you, person-centred therapy invites you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace - in a space where you’re genuinely heard, welcomed, and understood. It’s built on the belief that you already hold the wisdom and capacity to grow - and that the right conditions can help you reconnect with that inner strength.

🌱 In therapy, that means:
-
You’re the expert on your own life - not me.
-
You choose the pace, structure, and style of our sessions.
-
You’re accepted without judgment, including all the messy, complicated parts.
-
You’re met with empathy, warmth, and respect - not diagnoses or expectations.

🎨 Our work can include creative exploration too:
-
Writing or journaling to help express thoughts that are hard to speak aloud
-
Visual tools or illustrations to make emotions feel more tangible
-
Metaphors, characters, or storytelling
-
Sensory-friendly formats that honour your way of processing the world
Therapy doesn’t have to be all words and tears - it can be playful, expressive, and uniquely yours. Whether you prefer dialogue, creativity, silence, or structure, we’ll build sessions around what helps you feel safe, seen, and supported.
As an autistic therapist myself, I know how important it is to create a space where masking isn’t needed and differences are celebrated - not pathologised. You’re not too much. You’re not too little. You’re enough - and welcome.

Client Testimonials
"Natalie helped me untangle the mess without making me feel messy. She stayed steady when I couldn’t. That gave me a kind of map back to myself. I’m still intense, still emotional, still working through stuff. But now I know that intensity doesn’t equal broken." K.C
"It’s the first time I’ve worked with a therapist who actually understands what sensory overwhelm feels like, or why small talk is exhausting. Natalie never made me feel 'too much' or 'not enough.'" M.C

"Therapy with Natalie has changed the way I see myself. She doesn’t flinch at the intensity or complexity—I never feel judged, only gently guided. When things feel chaotic inside, she helps me put language to the storm. For the first time, I feel like I’m learning how to live rather than just survive." L.T
"Nat's calm, steady presence gave me the courage to take the first steps toward rebuilding my life. I didn’t just feel heard—I felt human again." S.W
